Community Engagement

Ensuring the police have the resources and opportunity to engage the community.

  • Engagement

Community engagement between the Lynchburg Police Department and the citizens of Lynchburg is a key component of a vibrant and thriving municipality. Through ongoing efforts to establish positive relationships and strong partnerships, the fibers that comprise public safety are strengthened. With the financial support of the Lynchburg Police Foundation, numerous events are held in the community hosted by the Lynchburg police.

Such events have included cookouts at the James Crossing Apartments neighborhood, where residents were treated with hamburgers and hot dogs, and getting to know one another was a priority. The Foundation also sponsored a fishing outing with police officers and underprivileged children.

Engaging with people is not totally external. The Foundation hosted a police retiree event – the first of its kind for the Foundation and the police department – bringing together retirees, their spouses and active police officers for an evening of fellowship and socializing.

These are just a few of the engagements the Lynchburg Police Foundation has been able to sponsor and host with your support.
