Officer of the Month
The Foundation is happy to be able to provide a cash award on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lynchburg to the Officer of the Month: Detective Goodell.
“Earlier in the year, Detective Goodell was reassigned to the Field Operations Bureau D Platoon to assist with staffing. This assignment also allowed the department to fully staff a Violent Crime Response Team. While assigned to D Platoon, Detective Goodell served as a role model and mentor to the younger officers. Goodell handled or assisted with over 100 calls for service and sat for countless hours at the hospital, so other officers could remain in service. In addition to being a huge asset to patrol, Detective Goodell worked multiple hours on his days off to ensure his Forensics Unit caseload was being addressed.
Detective Goodell is commended for his strong work ethic, example of being a team player, having a positive attitude, and for being a role model to the younger officers in this platoon.”
The Foundation thanks Detective Goodell for his support for his team and mentoring new officers in the LPD.
